Kick off LGBT History Month at Simsbury Public Library by attending The Art & History of Drag on Thursday, October 6th at 7 pm. Dr. Richard Stillson will explain the history of Drag performance as an art form and will discuss from a cross-cultural, historical perspective Drag and its many permutations. Dr. Stillson is a licensed psychologist, gay human, and drag queen. They are both a performance artist, photographer, and political queen who brings their art outside in broad daylight to emcee Hartford Gay Pride, march for Queer Black Lives Matter, co-chair the CT Coalition for LGBT Civil Rights and the Hartford Commission for LGB Issues, where they helped to create the first Domestic Partnership ordinance in the CT while a commissioner in Hartford.
