“...every bird is a good bird to see, even the ones I see all the time. I am
happy they’ve come, that they’ve chosen my yard to visit...” - Amy Tan
The delicate transparency of watercolors is perfect for creating beautiful bird portraits. Join watercolor artist, Nancy Roman, for this two-hour class where you’ll paint a complete 5x7 portrait, and learn the techniques of drawing, color mixing, watercolor washes, and creating fine detail. You don’t need to be an experienced painter – beginners are very welcome.
You can use a reference photo of your own, or choose one of the many photos that Nancy will provide. Look for a photo where the bird is prominent, and the features are crisp and clear. Because of the technique we will use for the initial drawing, your photo needs to be 5x7. Your picture should be PRINTED, not a photo on your phone or tablet. If you have a picture but you don’t have that size or can’t print it, we can help you if you let us know in advance. A photocopy is fine.
All materials will be provided - high quality paint, paper, brushes, drawing materials, etc. Just come and paint!
Please register in-person at the Information Desk. There is a $10 fee per person, to be paid at time of registration.
If you sign up and are on the waitlist you do NOT need to pay the $10 fee, unless a spot becomes available.
