Event Details
Salamanders are some of our most mysterious amphibians. Living below ground, or underwater, they are seldom seen. This film will give us a close look at every salamander species that inhabits New England. We will see examples of the typical complete salamander life cycle, from egg to larva to adult, as well as some interesting behaviors. We will be joined by filmmaker Ray Asselin and Dr. Alan Richmond, herpetologist in the Department of Biology at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, as well as its Curator of Amphibians and Reptiles, Natural History Collections. He specializes in the natural history, conservation, and phylogeography of New England reptiles and amphibians.
Co-sponsored by Simsbury Land Trust, Simsbury Grange and Simsbury Public Library
