Critically-acclaimed author Maggie Shipstead will join the Friends of the Simsbury Public Library for a virtual event on Tuesday, April 5 at 7 p.m. to discuss her latest novel Great Circle which was shortlisted for the 2021 Booker Prize. This historical novel tells the unforgettable story of a daredevil female aviator determined to chart her own course in life at any cost. Spanning Prohibition-era Montana, the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, New Zealand, wartime London, and modern-day Los Angeles, the novel is “a breathtaking epic…a stunning feat,” said a starred Booklist review and was named a Best Book of the Year by: TIME, NPR, Washington Post, EW, Boston Globe, Los Angeles Times, The Economist and many more.

Maggie Shipstead is the New York Times-bestselling author of the novels Seating Arrangements, Astonish Me, and Great Circle. She is a graduate of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, the recipient of a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts, and the winner of the Dylan Thomas Prize and the L.A. Times Book Prize for First Fiction. She lives in Los Angeles.
