Join us as we step back in time and learn how the first female landscape architect created a business in 1895 that would rival any of her male contemporaries. Beatrix Farrand began her business in a home office and expanded to offices and design studios in three states. She would create the campus landscapes for some of the most prestigious universities in the U.S. Her garden designs beautified the homes and estates of clients across the country. We will highlight how she prepared for her quest to be a landscape gardener, built a lucrative business and designed gardens as a beautiful canvas. Twelve of her gardens survive across the country and we’ll highlight the three surviving Connecticut gardens that have been restored.
