Program Description

Event Details

Join archivist Kim Harris Thacker of The Ethel Walker School for a presentation about the school and its connection with the community of Simsbury, of which it has been a part since 1917. From its founding, Walker's has been devoted to all-girls' education, and the Walker's Archives reflects that: It is dedicated to girls' and women's history, making it a rare and valuable resource. Along with interesting aspects of school and community history, Harris Thacker will also share how recent efforts to bring together archival materials and campus-excavated artifacts have resulted in a new and palpable interest in history among Walker's students. Many of the excavated artifacts are on display in the library; others will be brought in especially for the presentation.
