What's going on in the landscape?

Some people are meadow-scaping, installing all-native plantings, or switching to low-mow lawns. Pollinator patches are popping up in community and private spaces across the country. Demand for native plants continues to soar, straining some parts of the nursery trade and inspiring innovative start-ups.

Yet some people look at naturalized landscapes and see unkempt plants that are too tall. Some towns and homeowner associations have blight ordinances that work against native plantings and other non-lawn approaches to landscapes.

In the meantime, robots and drones are taking on the problems of invasive plants, insect invasions, and landscape maintenance. Battery-powered landscape tools are gaining space on trucks, and in garages and sheds. New, safer products are tackling old problems such as grub control.

Join this event for a lively "flyover" of a changing landscape, and what these changes mean for gardeners and landscapers.

This program will take place at the Simsbury Public Library. Open to the public and free of charge.
