*** Parenting 101 will not meet on 4/9 or 4/16, but will meet on Tuesday 4/7. ***
We welcome first time parents or expecting parents (both moms and dads) to join us for information sessions in a small and welcoming group setting. Our instructor, Brynna, is a registered nurse who has 5 years of experience in Neonatal Intensive Care and 2 years of experience in postpartum nursing. She is also an IBCLC. Each week Brynna will share information, hands on demonstrations and answer questions on a topic. Topics and instruction can be customized based on the interests of the group that week. Some possible topics may include:
- What to expect at the hospital
- Postpartum unit expectations
- Breastfeeding vs. formula
- Pumping (also called "triple feeding")
- Skin to skin
- So your baby's in the NICU
- Circumcision
- Normal baby things (second night syndrome, sleepy first day, poop)
- Bringing baby home
- Transitioning to life with baby
- General baby care (diapers, swaddles, etc)
- Returning to work
- Having friends/family visit the baby
- Managing stress or postpartum anxiety/depression
- Partner support (how is the non-child bearing parent doing?)
