Join The Simsbury Grange for the Premier of the newest film by New England Forests titled “Beaver Family Life". As leaves begin to drop from the trees in autumn, beavers are tirelessly preparing for the coming cold. The adults work day and night to gather branches for their winter food cache, and to plaster insulating mud on their lodge home. All the while, their offspring of the year are learning those skills and participating in the work. This new film chronicles the lives of one beaver family, beginning in autumn and following their routines for a year. They take down trees, build a winter food supply, maintain their lodge, deal with winter ice, build dams, raise young, and move on to new homes. We'll get close looks at the lives of some other inhabitants of this beaver pond world as well: nesting yellow-bellied sapsuckers, gray tree frogs, and the unique Harvester butterfly. There are scenes most nature lovers have never observed in the wild.
Doors of the Grange Hall will open at 5:30pm, with informal social hour at 6pm and film showing at 7pm. Attendees may bring food to enjoy outside or in the lower level before each film begins.
